简介
Gills While our music may be categorized as ‘indie’ or ‘alternative’, we like to think of it as ‘swamp fiction’, a musical undercurrent, flowing freely below the ebb and flow of contemporary pop. We know what the surf hides, live our lives beneath the waves. The depths store our hopes and fears, while we breathe through our gills. Gills is the brainchild of composer/guitarist Ton Mulders and lyricist/singer Reinier Borst. It marries a narrating singing style to catchy guitar licks and unusual harmonics. Musical references are quite frankly the entire history of pop music as well as classical and non-Western styles of music. The first series of songs is mostly built on the classic rock band line-up of guitar, bass, drums and vocals., then add the swollen sounds of surf guitars, the staccato hum of computer glitches and more, much more, to get an idea about the band - but that still won’t cover it. Gills prides itself on its live act. Lyrics and music are amplified through theatrical means. Audiovisuals go hand in hand with what’s happening on stage, bringing you the illusion of an underwater world.
