简介
Monika Linges presents on her 1st album a wide range from latin inspired tunes to sentimental ballads. Floating is a very personal album. Monika Linges who wrote the lyrics to most of the tunes, sings about, childhood and youth (Prayer of the newborn, Too fond of Samba, The world was young), friendship, first love, breaking up (La danse du Coer, Till we get there, Floating, Blues triste), the fight for integrity and the struggle to survive…(Running) At the beginning of the 1980`s, Monika Linges was one of the famous female jazz-singer in Germany. She toured with her international band through nearly all European countries. She performed in TV-shows in Germany, Belgium und Netherlands and played many international Jazz Festivals, among others the Northsea Festival in Den Haag, Berlin Jazzfestival. She also had recording sessions with Radio - Bigbands in Danmark, Netherlands and Germany. As a composer she was also very successful. The titletrack of this album and later also another tune were awarded a prize at the international Jazz Composing Competition in Monaco. Monika Linges started her career as a self-taught singer, later she took lessons also in music theory. Her career started in local Jazzrock bands with instrumental singing. In April 1979 she founded her own band, which existed (with a few personal changes) until 1990. During this period Monika Linges recorded only 2 LPs with her own band and was a guest in some other recording sessions. Most of them are also released by NABEL (4601, 4604, 4661) Monika Linges had a revival in the beginning of the 90`s, starting in the London Jazz-Clubs. The DJs digged out her old recordings and played them in the clubs. Her songs later were licensed to several Compilations in England and Asia. Because of the new demand both LPs of Monika Linges were reissued and released also on CD. Her records now were re-questioned also outside Europe and were successful a.o. in the USA. At that time she also was a guest for a recording of Nobukazu Takemura and the Hipsters in the zone. Later her recordings were also released in Japan by Celeste. Over the years Monika Linges became the best selling Artist of Nabel! Dennis Luxion, born in Springfield/Ill. (USA), studied piano, composition and music theory at the 'Illinois Benedictine College', later at the 'American Conservatory' in Chicago. He started in the local jazz-scene of Chicago. 1979 he went to Europe and worked for some time with Chet Baker, with whom he recorded 2 records and accompanied him on several tours. He also worked with Dusko Goykovitch, Lee Konitz, Steve Houben, Archie Shepp a.o. Today Dennis Luxion lives again in the USA. Michael Schöneich, studied bass at the Musikhochschule in Aachen and works as a Bass teacher today Gerd Breuer, self-touch drummer, was an unknown Newcomer in 1982, but today he is one of the most requested drummers in Germany. In the meantime he recorded and toured with a lot of international artist. Songing” was recorded and released 1982 , following the applauded debut album ”Floating”. Songing was recorded Direct to Disc, so no overdubs, no corrections could be made. I know only very few singer in the world who would take the risk of that kind of recording. So in any case the music comes along in a different way. Floating was produced in a studio for 10 days using all the technical possibilities and Songing is like a Club session. Here we have a Jazz band with an excellent piano and rhythm section.
