The land and the sea, the voice and the guitar, represent dualities that have been an intrinsic part of Portuguese music. In this work, the voice comes from a hidden place in history and calls the listener to a world of the people that live by the sea. The guitar mixes with the lyrics and makes its way in between the words, very much like the water soaking the land. You will find roots of Portuguese music, whether it is the sounds of Beira Baixa present in "Nós Cegos" or the south path followed by "Descanso", or references to the sea in "Terra e Mar" and "A Ver o Mar". Maybe you will also find some auditory references to Brazil in the lulaby, and the search for freedom is the main theme in "Mariposa" and "Pardal". António Luís Dinis initiated his career as a singer in Coimbra in 1996 at the "TAUC" and later at the group "Verdes Anos". He started by singing the themes of the golden age of Fado, namely "Saudades de Coimbra" (Do choupal até a lapa) and the repertoire of Edmundo Bettencourt and António Menano. He also devoted an extensive part of his earlier performances to the Balads of José Afonso and Adriano Correia de Oliveira. In 1998 Dinis started writing original lyrics and he has since been exploring the relationship between phylosophy and popular culture. He has toured extensively in Portugal and has had concerts in Spain, France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, Macau and Japan. João Magalhães Martins finished the classical guitar conservatory course in 1999 in the class of Professor Graciano Pinto. After participating in several chamber music groups, in 1998 he integrated the Fado group "Verdes Anos" with which he has toured extensively in Portugal and abroad. From 2000 to 2001 and 2007 to 2010 he taught classical guitar at the Fado school of AAC. In 2001/02 he conducted research in Helsinki, Finland, studying the acoustics of the classical and the portuguese guitars. Joao is a researcher and composer and holds a PhD in music from the University of Plymouth (UK).
