The Missing Lynx is no p**sy cat when it comes to entertaining crowds. This West Michigan based duo, consisting of Jay Round and Tom DeVries, has built a solid following throughout the Midwest with their amazing musical diversity, instrumentation, vocal harmonies, and crowd rapport. Their set lists contain a wide variety of musical styles from the grassroots traditional, country and bluegrass to swing, top hits from the 1960s to the present, and an ever increasing number of original songs. Using guitars, upright and electric basses, mandolin, hammered dulcimer, harmonica, percussion, kazoo, and humor Missing Lynx has performed at music festivals, community concerts, night clubs and restaurants, country clubs and ski resorts, fund raising events for the American Cancer Society, Cystic Fibrosis and other causes, radio and television programs, recording studios, private parties, corporate and civic events, convention centers, hospitals, universities, and museums. The duo has opened for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Sammy Kershaw and other nationally known acts, and was featured in the off Broadway theater production Woody Guthrie: An American Song. While the Missing Lynx formed in 1999, Round and DeVries have quite a history, both collectively and individually. The two have been friends since the mid 1970s and have performed together in a variety of settings from stage to studio to informal jam sessions. The Missing Lynx is featured in Michigan Arts and Humanities Touring Directory. The duo performs most often throughout their home state of Michigan and neighboring Indiana, but their territory continues to grow thanks to some nationally syndicated television and radio appearances. Each Missing Lynx concert is unique as Tom and Jay often alter their shows to accommodate audience response and requests. An opportunity to see these "cool cats" perform should not be missed.
