Unstoppable, undeniable, and absolutely remarkable are three phrases that barely scratch the surface with the dark pop-rockers known as The Shrugs. Their high-energy music layered with thoughtful lyrics and candy-coated vocals will pull you into a head-over-heels romance with this band from Vancouver, BC Canada.

Capturing a sound that echoes of the deep shadows of BC’s coastal waters and the gritty streets of Vancouver, The Shrugs perform music that twists the White Stripes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Mother Mother together in a seamlessly original way. Caitlin Connelly’s vocals soar over Brandon Johnas’ guitar in every song, while Stephanie Cole on bass drives the listener to crave more of this quartet’s unique sound.

Emotionally charged songs are written together by the band, inspired by over-active imaginations and a passion for creativity. While their music reflects their influences of Queen, Amy Winehouse, Bob Dylan and more, they’ve made their mark on their genre with ripping guitar solos and their message of open-mindedness. They aspire to write music that is relatable and inspiring to other people; music that kids can grow up to and adults can reminisce with.

Recently the dark-pop quartet played Danger Bay, one of the largest long-boarding races in the world, and independently released their first EP “Acid Zebra” in 2010. They’ve recently been in studio and will be releasing their second EP “Vindicate” on July 16th, 2011. Currently they are scheduling an extensive cross-Canada tour, which is sure to add to their ever-growing fan base and garner attention from many listeners along the way.
