After recording 3 "electric" albums, Bobby Lee Murphy decided that many of his favorite compositions should really be recorded with an "acoustic" presentation ... soooo, viola - "Lightning Never Hides" was born! "Getting back to basics is one of the most uplifting things I could have done at this stage of my musical journey", an enthusiastic Bobby Lee exclaimed after working on the project for only a couple of weeks. He continued, "After dedicating so much time & effort into electric guitar skills and presentation, and it taking 3 years to complete my last CD, "Blues STPH", I realized that I hadn't even played my acoustic guitar once during that time. So it was just a little scary the day I actually opened my acoustic guitar case. I just kinda looked at it for a minute, seeing the beauty of the workmanship, and wondered if I could even still play it with any creativity or skill at all. Within minutes I was swept away by the charismatic sound and flood of past acoustic memories & experiences. I knew immediately what I needed to do". It still took over a year and a half to finish this acoustic CD. In an interview with Slasho, Bobby Lee stated, "Actually, recording this acoustic CD was a little traumatic. You see, there's just no place to hide in acoustic music. I mean ... in electric music sometimes you can use extra volume or sound effects to cover some of the hard spots. In acoustic music 'It is what it is" and sometimes that can seem to sound a little thin. Then there are people like Tommy Emmanuel or Eric Johnson that, no matter what instrument they play, they can make the instrument sing strong and true. But that's OK, they have to spend a lot of extra time signing autographs ... something I haven't had to worry about much .... I think I've signed five now, so far!!! Haha!!! Anyway, the release party is set for November 13, 2015 and I'm hoping I can fit everyone that comes into my studio! I know that Bubba & Dixie will be there (Jaz will be watching from above) and if I order Pizza I'm sure the rest will show up. However, since I'm not an alcohol drinker, and I don't think that soda pop is all that healthy either, several people have already politely declined to come, saying they already scheduled an appointment to clean their bathroom ... or they may go ahead and have their dentist do a root canal! Me, I'm looking forward to it, cause water is the best juice on the planet, and there will plenty of that available there!" After that interview, the Slasho staff all agreed that they really needed to do inventory that night, and unfortunately would be unable to attend. Bobby, not to be detoured, plans to go ahead with party arrangements. But after all is said and done, anyone who decides to lend an ear to this new CD (Lightning Never Hides), will find a refreshing collection of music, ranging from blues to reggae and from Cajun to country ... with a special touch of sound that is spiced with variety and fun.
