简介
This is the 3rd Chris Chesney album for cdbaby, this time in collaboration with Gerry Laffy on lead vocals. I have written and produced all the material and taken the instrumental duties. Gerry's a great guitarist in his own right, so I've had to hang on to that side of things for want of anything better to do! Gerry's contribution has taken my material to a whole new level, giving the songs a much stronger and altogether more alluring edge. I'm really grateful to him. Funny ... although we've known each other for a while - this is our first joint project. Everything happens in its own time, I guess ... We've both had our fair share of being involved at the time of some seminal Rock and Roll history. In the heady days of the Sixties I played lead guitar and vox in 'Sour Milk Sea' with Freddie Mercury on lead vocals. The early seventies found me in Philadelphia playing lead guitar with 'Mandrake Memorial' which included Randy Monaco on bass and lead vocals. I subsequently toured and appeared Twink, Sadista Sisters, Ben E King, Eddie Floyd, Dorothy Moore, Percy Sledge and Billy Idol among others. In the early Eighties I was regularly playing the LA club scene up and down the strip with our own band 'Art Thieves'. Gerry started life in seminal 80's glam-rock outfit 'Girl' before fronting the band 'Sheer Greed' on lead vocals and lead guitar. Later on he played lead with 'The London Cowboys' as well as touring USA, Japan and Europe with John (Duran Duran) Taylor's band on lead guitar and backing vocals. Stylistically and content-wise this album speaks for itself. It's the result of the influences that inform our sensibilities whether we like it or not ...... hence the appearance of a country music sound, an Urban R'n'B flavour, a nod to Weather Report, an Island reggae nuance ... as well as the ubiquitous presence of Rock and Roll and Blues as the backbone of the whole style. That's the beauty of our status as independent artists - industry outsiders if you will - we set the agenda without a backward glance at any considerations except - 'do we like it?' Yes, we freaking well do, and I hope it finds an audience with like-minded people sick of the diet of plastic pre-digested pap on offer from the bean-counters and air-conditioned officials of the slime-ball 'music industry'.
