简介
Deborah Boily, although possessing French roots, is an American who has always wanted to be French. At age 15, she started to study the language and has been fascinated with it ever since. Deborah has been singing all of her life but began singing in French in 1989 when she created the one-woman show "I Always Wanted to be French". That experience gave birth to two other Cabaret shows: "From Piaf to Brel and Beyond" and "Ce Soir....Cabaret". Some of the best songs from her repertoire have been selected for this recording. Deborah has traveled the world singing this music and spent several years finally achieving a dream... being a Parisian. There she sang in clubs and hotels, ironically singing mostly the music of her native tongue, English! Deborah returned to the French language once again when performing in a play written for her entitled: "Piaf in Vienna" in 2000-2001. See her website for more on this show. The French call her "the little American with a French heart" and you'll find this very true when you listen to her interpretations of Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Michel LeGrand, Charles Aznavour and Yves Montand. And, you'll be thrilled as you discover the songs of many unknown composers.
