简介
New York City-based singer-songwriter Johnny V. Lewis is excited to announce his sophomore album In Cars Passing. The album, which was recorded with and produced by John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, Kurt Vile, The Hold Steady), will be self-released on November 4. To ring in the announcement, Lewis has shared album opener "Red Door Blues" via Consequence of Sound, who noted that "There's a feeling like being heavy yet somehow floating, as drums plod on while strings billow up from behind." The track is available to stream or embed HERE. Lewis has also scheduled a show to celebrate the release of In Cars Passing at New York City's Mercury Lounge on November 9 (late show). More shows will be announced as they are scheduled. Lewis was born and raised in Minnesota where his musical idol, Bob Dylan, came from. Picking up a guitar when he was thirteen, Lewis studied the legends that came before him; from Dylan to Zappa, Prince to Sinatra, he immediately became entranced by the power of music. Lewis moved to Colorado in 2008 to pursue a career in live electronic music. Producing for hip-hop acts such as Lizzo (Atlantic Records) and having success playing shows, most notably at Red Rocks Amphitheater and Denver's City Hall Amphitheater, Lewis felt estranged from his folk-rock roots. In turn, he moved to New York City with a simple goal in mind -- writing songs on his acoustic guitar. For his second full-length album, In Cars Passing, Lewis tapped acclaimed producer and engineer John Agnello to record a new batch of completely original material, heavy in emotion and lyrical substance. Lewis rallied an elite band of NYC's finest players, and together with Agnello achieved the almost-impossible -- a near-live record, larger than life. Lewis is now twenty-six and living in New York City.
