"No Eyes for the Future" is the latest release from New York-based singer/songwriter A.L.X. The record opens with the sonic assault of "Rise Up", a guitar-blasted anthem anchored by a rhythm reminiscent of 1950's-era James Brown--backed up by a hypercharged U2 on steroids. From the shotun-in-the-chest charge of "Holdin' Back" (which hold NOTHING back!!) to the soaring "Firefly", A.L.X. purrs, growls and snarls his way through a dark, atmospheric sonic landscape that is contemporary in feel yet backed by a thickness and power more reminiscent of the classic rock of a bygone era.
