Janice Buckner studied for a year at the University of Kent in Canterbury to pursue her interest of the British ballad. She traveled throughout England and Scotland collecting folk songs in the true minstrel fashion. She learned the melodies and lyrics from local people in the countryside - recording their versions in the pubs and in the parks so she could bring the songs back to the United States. She then spent a few years performing in Renaissance Fairs throughout America. Janice later recorded her favorite pieces, many of them the beloved classics that have survived for hundreds of years. She kept the arrangements simple, using only acoustic guitar and simple harmonies. These recordings are a tribute to the simplicity of the early troubadour.
