Blueblood is a powerful modern blues influenced trio from Newport, Rhode Island, that is making considerable impressions on the east coast! The release of their self produced CD " Only Time Will Tell" is gaining critical acclaim and recieving some airplay in the Providence,Boston,Hartford,Cleveland, New Hampshire, areas and Slovenia, Australia,UK and Sweden! The band is comprised of veteran musicians who have worked with members of Roomful of Blues, The Dixie Chicks, CJ Chennier, and they have produced an album of tasteful blues oriented tunes , but with a modern approach that brings in elements of rock and jazz. Blueblood is a powerful trio who deliver a tasetful and moving performance of guitar based solos and soulful vocals supported by a solid rhythm section.Their style brings a breath of fresh air to the New England scene and now beyond. To compare the styles of Blueblood you need to think of Robben Ford, Steely Dan, Eric Johnson, Keb Mo, etc.etc.This is a band from a blues hotbed that has blended the old with the new and adds some style and class to the mix. Sadly, Blueblood disbanded in 2002 after a 5 year run of it. The band tried to deliver a different approach to the music with a little jazz rock bend to the mix and while artistically successful, we know all too well how that often translates to financial survival in club world. We tried, we tried real hard to deliver something with a little taste and style and for that, we are all proud of the effort. Jay and Charlie continued with the band, Focus, and Ray went onto work on original material with the Kevin Sullivan Band, the band Abbey Rhode and fill in work, all based in Newport, Rhode Island. In 2005, Ray & Charlie began performing around the Newport, RI, area in an acoustic duo as Davis & Meehan and still play regularly.Jay relocated to Florida and is playing somewhere in the sunshine. We can all look back on this recording and the band as something we are proud of and hope you will agree, it was a damned good band!
