Leo Sidran and Joy Dragland, a.ka. Joy and the Boy, have been making music together for over a decade. The duo met at the University Of Wisconsin at a jazz jam session, but it would take a single defining event to kickstart their collaborative efforts. In October of 2000 they were invited to perform at a political rally at the State Capitol in Madison in front of 30,000 people. This was their first performance as a duo, and they realized sometime during that performance that they shared a deep musical connection. Since those early days, their music has taken them around the world, and around the block. As a group, they have released three full length projects. 2002's Paradise (which briefly charted in Germany), 2007's Soaking Wet, which led the group to Japan for a series of somewhat surreal promotional tours including one particularly memorable jumbotron experience, and Secret Place in 2008, which you have to be a magician to find (it is available on all digital platforms). Both Joy and Leo relocated from the midwest to New York in 2005 and are busy with a variety of musical projects. In addition to his record production work, Leo is a composer for film and televison; Joy has a steady solo project under her own name.
