简介

Nick Sibley grew up in El Dorado Springs, Missouri and spent his adult life in nearby Springfield, Missouri. After a life of songwriting and successfully penning over 1000 songs, Sibley selected an assortment of songs that showed off his immense skill to write in varied styles and veins to create his debut album. Sibley pulled inspiration for his songs from friends, family, and local subject matter. Sibley wrote the songs in this collection at various times across the last four decades. The oldest composition, "Picnic Time," is an instrumental written when Sibley was only 19 years old. Sibley wrote the melodies of "Somebody's Dream," "The Melon Patch," and "Pamela Brown" in the mid-seventies, but he completed the lyrics over the last thirty years. "Aunt Norma" was written and orignally recorded around 1980. The songs features Fred Raines, the original character voice of both Skinny and Rusty from Aunt Norma's local television show, Children's Hour. "Daisy" is a true story about Nick's first dog. "Albino Farm" was loosely inspired by a local folk tale about the Sheady family farm north of Springfield. "They'll Never Find Me Here" is an excercise in odd chords and melody. Nick sang this song with a galvanized bucket on his head for the high-tech effect. "Sleepin In My Clothes" was written after sleeping on his couch in his recording studio one night. "People Don't Think About You" is oneside of a conversation that never happened. "One More Time" was written about Nick's maternal grandfather, Luther Thatch. "Somebody's Dream" was another melody that took over thirty years for which to find a lyric. The lyric was based on a scolding he remembered getting from his grandma when he was only 8 years old. "Pamela Brown" is a true story about a girl from Nick's childhood, Pamela Brown, who moved back to his hometown when Nick was still riding his bike and playing little league baseball in the summer. Nick Sibley's songwriting masterfully captures the humor and irony in every day life. Tom Tough Taught Me Everything I Know describes the delights and the tribulations of the human experience: bourgeouning youth to loving and losing to acceptance.
