In Raven's 3rd album of original songs, the flavor is rich, the style more mature, and yet, it still has her signature "ethereal" quality to it. The songs are about life's lessons -- when to hold on and when to let go -- written and recorded throughout a tumultous time in the artist's life with relationships beginning and ending, as well as births and deaths of loved ones, and personal re-birthing. The songs are quite a bit more vulnerable than on the 2nd album (the New York City years) with less of an edge and more exploration into spiritual questions. Musically, Raven chose to work with Boston producer/recording engineer, Steve Friedman, in his studio and to enlist the help of some very talented musicians to round out the sound: Joey Ammo adding his expressive lead guitar on 7 of the 11 tracks, Valerie Thompson adding her hauntingly beautiful cello on The Dance, Carry Me, River, Heaven and Only Love. Raven rounds out the selections by going acapella on the soaring short "medicine song" called "Mother Earth's Hymn to the People." And she goes all-out crazy cat-fun on the whimsical Catittude song written for (and possibly by) her mischievous feline -- a great song for all cat-lovers and kids love it too. We've added a bonus of 2 solo acoustic early recordings of Raven's favorite, "Television Dreams" and "Free."
