Blacktop Mojo is a hard rock band from Palestine, Texas that channels a heavy, gritty sound that seamlessly blends melody and adrenaline. With sludgy, rigid guitar lines and soaring, melodic vocal runs, peppered with an alluring growl, twisted around the psychedelic story-telling abilities of bands with musicians three times their age, Blacktop Mojo's songs deal with everything from ballads of love and loss to epic tales of overcoming death itself, delivered with staunch, hard rock.

The band set out to play shows in December of 2012 with Nathan Gillis on drums, Chris Davis on bass, Kenneth Irwin and Ryan Kiefer on Lead Guitar, and front man Matt James. With their own shake on the dual lead guitar attack, evocative of Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, it's no surprise that through their travels they have shared the stage with a diverse group of acts such as Aaron Lewis, Puddle of Mudd, Whiskey Myers, The Dirty River Boys, and many more.

Blacktop Mojo's latest project is their first, full-length studio LP titled, "I Am". "This album is our first project that represents all of us," says drummer Nathan Gillis, "each one of us had a hand in writing all of the songs on the album. A lot of the songs were written by all of us as a group, and even if one guy wrote a song, everyone else had input in arranging it. You'll find each member of the band's fingerprints in every song."

With the album set to release in June of 2014, Two of the tracks from the album, "Trouble On The Rise," and, "Thrive," have already been featured in radio lineups on 97.1 "The Eagle" out of Dallas, TX, who deemed them a 'Local Artist to Watch'. Others,such as "Next Bullet", "Why", and the title track, "I Am", have garnered the band featured spots on ReverbNation's home page by scoring higher than a 7.8 through their Crowd Review program.
