I consider myself a multi-media artist involved with expressing myself through words, sound, color, light and vision. In my particular case, I’ve been writing since I was 6 years old, starting with short stories. I eventually graduated to writing prose poetry, which then morphed into song lyrics. Whatever the medium, I'm expressing a reflection of what's going on with me. I wrote and sang all songs, play mountain dulcimer, cymbals and hand percussion. For those unfamiliar, a dulcimer is a four-stringed, hourglass-shaped instrument made of wood and played while it rests on one’s lap and usually strummed with a dulcimer pick.. although I never use one. Dulcimers can sound very reminiscent of Indian music.. a bit droney and melancholic, even wistful at times. They also emote a country, "mountain twang” vibe as they hail from the Appalachian Mountains, which go all the way up to Canada. The dulcimer is considered to be the first American folk instrument. I named my dulcimer, "Dulcinea," ‘cause she’s always made such sweet music. I was given the opportunity to travel to the UK in 2008 and record some of my songs with renowned 70s music producer, Stuart Epps. Stu worked with Elton John for over 30 years before going on to produce albums by Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page, Bill Wyman, Jeff Beck and Oasis. Stu is responsible for producing/arranging duties; playing guitar, keyboards and drum sequencing; recording and mixing. I feel fortunate to have collaborated with Stu because he's brilliant and knew exactly how to coax the best out of me.
