简介
“IN A MELLOW TONE” is a compilation of songs and styles from Jazz to Brazilian Bosa Nova and Samba. Teacher and Arranger Les Nunes shows what he can do with a song, both on the trombone and as well as vocals, exciting! Joe Lizama, longtime drummer for singer Johnny Mathis, lends his expertise with arrangements and ideas as well as drums and percussion. Ron Catalano shows his talents in arranging with “Teach Me Tonight”. Finally, Marco Tulio Rodriguez adds his distinctive Latin Jazz sounds on keyboard. We thank them all for their help with ideas for arrangements and their exciting solos. “Too Often”, an original song written by Earl and Melba Watson is featured as a samba and is sung in both English and Portuguese. The tune was written years ago for the Mills Brothers but never recorded. It languished in a dresser drawer in their home for over 50 years. The new rendition of it is exciting and current. Faye Reis, Jazz singer with a background of performing with Sarah Vaughn and Lou Rawls teams with Trombonist/Vocalist Les Nunes and Lloyd Williams (of “Animal House” the movie) on duets and solos – “In A Mellow Tone” is a showcase of Central California talent.
