简介

The debut solo album by elektrokabaret vixen Dahlia Schweitzer, PLASTIQUE! PLASTIQUE, a collection of eleven playful and poetic pop songs, is a concept album, one that explores the glamour and fantasy of international nightlife. Released on the London-based Electric label, PLASTIQUE features collaborations with numerous musicians and producers, including: Baptiste Feuillade (Paris), Ben Adorable (Chicago), Dirk Sanner (Dusseldorf), Jan Lehmann (Berlin), Leon Loiseau (Paris), Max Krefeld (Berlin), Jean Miyokan (San Francisco), Jude Rawlins (London), NAM:LIVE! (Montreal), and Juan Moreno (Milan). Originally from New York, Dahlia became Berlin's fastest rising ex-pat multi-talent, managing to maintain her public profile as an extroverted, electro-punk diva while keeping up her other, more introverted passions of writing and photography. Dahlia's subjects, in all her various media – from performance to photography, writing to music -- have consciously run from high & refined to down & dirty in order to explore themes of sexuality and identity, fantasy and gender. Her achievements have been as varied as her forms of expression, ranging from a book about the sex industry in New York, to art exhibitions in Berlin, New York, and London, to performances described by some as electro-cabaret and by Vogue as "sexy, rebellious, and cool." She is also the author of Another Kind of Monster: Cindy Sherman's Office Killer (Intellect/University of Chicago Press, 2014), Seduce Me (Harper Collins, 2007), Lovergirl (Random House, 2007), and I've Been a Naughty Girl (Ravenous Romance, 2008). She currently lives in Los Angeles. From CelebrityVIPLounge: "Plastique: The Review -- If you lived in Berlin in the 00s, then you know that this album is one of the soundtracks of that era. Known as one of the electro queens of Berlin in the 00s, Dahlia’s music encompasses the sonic landscape and feel of a city that swam in the underground, then spit the excess out at the mainstream. As an electro cabaret performer and provocateur, the songs fit perfectly with her live performances, which are never the same show twice – depending on the venue, there are more than enough tracks for the notoriously decadent Kit Kat Club or the more sophisticated Sage Club. If you know Peaches and Miss Kittin, then Dahlia and Plastique should also be a part of your musical library. Stand out tracks include the NSFW-ish Cock Block and the sultry Deeper." From May I Be Candid: "Icy and intense, distant and passionate, sparse and shredded, PLASTIQUE--the debut album by writer/curator/educator/performer/conceptualist DAHLIA SCHWEITZER, contains multitudes. Recorded to sound more like a perfectly calibrated night-club performance than a conventional studio album, PLASTIQUE isn't the sort of fun, light, dance-pop you might enjoy pumped through the sound system at your favourite Sunday-brunch spot. It's too...dominating. On the other hand, for a sexy night in--with him, her, that someone else, whomever it may be--this is one of the best albums one could possibly add to the night's playlist, right up there with the most recent releases by PEACHES, DAFT PUNK, and other acts immersed in THAT sound. You know the one: brutal, seductive, evocative of rough sex, neon lights, and unexpected flashes of intimacy and romance when it's least expected."
