In this self-titled EP, John E. Funk & The Skunks bring together the power of riffy garage rock and the swagger of funk to create a high-energy set you can’t not dance to. Inspired by the likes of James Brown and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, the band builds tight grooves to get you moving, but is always ready to tear into a head-banging rock break on a dime (“Milkshake”, “Pickles”). They show an impressive range, getting especially heavy on “Elevation” and chilling things out with “One Way Road”, but remain tactfully centered around a core sound. The addition of horns further spices up their sound, and this young group will be exciting to watch as they continue to develop a powerful and textured sound.

10 skunks were acquired during the making of this album. Two were stolen by a biker gang at a show shortly thereafter. If you happen to see these poor orphans wandering the streets, please take them in and care for them as if they were your own.
