简介
F. Chopin and F. Liszt are among the greatest composers of the history and two of the best composers of piano music. They are the creators of the modern piano technic: so many are the new resources they add to the tradition and so revolutionary is the music they both composed. Chopin was forced to live outside his beloved Poland from a very early age: he moved to Paris when he was 20 and never went back to Poland again. These Polonaisen are amongst the most melancholic works by Chopin: in them, the composer expresses how much he misses his homeland and exalts his love for Poland by using popular themes. The choice of this popular dance - the Polonaise - also shows his effort for binding himself with his ancestors and culture. Liszt was considered the best pianist of his age: an outstanding artist that impressed every audience by his amazing display of technic and lyricism. Liszt intended to translate the style of the famous violinist Paganini into piano music. Being composed by a virtuoso, his music often represents a tour de force for the performer so many are the obstacles and difficulties it presents. The Sonetti di Petrarca are amongst the most lyrical and expressive music of Liszt and denounce the identification the composer felt with Petraca's love for Laura.
