I met the bassist Greg my freshman year of high school. He was a junior then. He was a cool, relaxed guy who liked to jam with other musicians. I met him through concert band (I played the clarinet, he played the bass). We hung out and played music together my entire freshman and sophomore year. We ended up becoming great friends. He was one of the only people that made high school bearable. My sophomore year, I met a great drummer, Ben. I actually had met Ben the previous year at a music camp that him and I just happened to go to. We jammed the entire first semester (he left after that because he didn't like the high school too much). But that summer, I went back to the music camp and found him again and we continued to build our musical relationship. He introduced me to his friend, Peter, who was a superb guitarist. It turns out that Peter and I had met several years before because of this same camp. This was a great group of people to hang out with and play music with. There was one problem. At this point in my life, most people knew me as a drummer. I could play guitar pretty well, not anything super special like Peter, but pretty well. So I was at a dilemma when I realized what the potential was with this group of friends. So i switched from being the drummer to being a guitarist and lead singer. In March of 2011, we signed ourselves up for this local Battle Of The Bands thing. We played one original, one cover (Breed by Nirvana), and did a jam. This was my first time singing in front of an audience. We didn't even make it past the qualification round. Was I upset? Yeah, but not too much. It was a good first try. But I didn't want this to end there. So I said to the band "Hey, let's make an album," and we decided to go for it. We went to Peter's basement, used a combination of my and Peter's gear, and recorded and entire album by ourselves. We went through 3 edits of the album trying to get it to sound good. The whole thing took about 9 months. But, through blood, sweat, frustration, and anger, on April 6th, 2012, we released our self-entitled album. Listening to it now, I see the four of us laughing, recording, hanging out, editing, and talking in Peter's basement. But this album means so much to me. This album tells the story of how i felt before the band and while the band was forming. It also tells the story of love's loss. But that's what it says to me. What it says to you may be totally different. So now, we're here. We've made this album, and we want you to have a listen.
