ONCE there was a boy living in a small town in India where his only comfort was his radio, which quickly became his only insight into another world. On one such night the station played The Verve's 'Northern Soul' and U2's “War”. That changed everything, he left home and moved to Texas, picked up some drum sticks and played in a new wave band, but Texas wasn't his cup of tea so he moved to London, England, practiced his skills, listened to what was going on musically, saw The Who perform `Teenage Wasteland' for a moment before being thrown out for being underage. He then moved to New York City at the tender age of nineteen. He got a job booking bands at Space @ Chase and saw the likes of Jawbox, Pearl Jam, Fishbone and the Smashing Pumpkins come through the door. He started playing with a band, the band got signed, the band moved to LA, recorded the album which never came out, he was in LA, no job, no recording contract and only his record collection, he figured “everything happens for a reason”. He started to be a Dj at clubs and house parties, in his down time, he started writing songs, he met various producers but it all came together when he started working with Marc Jameson. Together they recorded demos, the boy Sami grew up and moved from drums to vocals, as he wanted to express himself, and his influences in a different way. He put a band together with guitarist Pelle Hillstrom (Abandoned Pools, Modwheelmood), Anthony on guitar, bass player Brian Hendrix and Travis (Kevin Max) and together they became ONCE. They took their sonic wall of sound to such venues as the Viper room, Spaceland and King King where they soon stirred up a lot of attention with their melodic British Rock influenced sound. ONCE is about music, emotion, life. ONCE is their journey which will also become part of your journey as we can all only live ONCE.
