简介
Formed from the ashes of W.A.D. by founders Erich Tran (guitar), Joe Shields (bass), and Sol Bales (vocals), Only set out with a new mission and focus: concise, hook-filled songs, with an emphasis on a high-energy live show, both visually and sonically compelling. Drawing from influences ranging from alternative metal to early punk/hardcore, with a healthy dose of 80's rock bombast, Only forged a unique, modern sound, represented by two early EP's: 2002's Self-Titled and 2004's "Apparitions". Only expanded and solidified their lineup with the addition of rhythm guitarist Mark Reinking, in late 2003, and drummer Celestino "Sal" Ramirez, in 2005. The band has gigged regularly since it's inception, both locally and regionally. Stand-out performances include: winning Iowa State University's annual VEISHEA Battle of the Bands in 2003, playing at the legendary First Avenue club in Minneapolis in 2004, a New Year's Eve show with Corey Taylor's (Slipknot, Stone Sour) D*mF*x in 2005, headlining Buena Vista College's annual Edgefest outdoor music and arts festival in 2006, and the Des Moines Music Coalition's Gross Domestic Product showcase in 2007. Only has also opened for such nationally-know artists as Local H, Nothingface, Kill Hannah, Vixen, and Index Case. October 16, 2007 marks the realization of Only's greatest achievement to date: the release of their first full-length album, "Immortal". Containing twelve original tracks and showcasing the band's ever-expanding range and songwriting abilities, "Immortal" was recorded in Nov., 2006 and June-Sept., 2007 with renowned producer Tom Tatman at Catamount Recording. The first single, "Three Martyrs", has received overwhelming praise from Only's thousands of MySpace fans. Following the release of the album, Only hopes for the opportunity to perform their music for the masses in bigger, better venues, across the country and around the world.
