简介
It was easier times when battle line were so clearly draw, the idea of right vs wrong and moral center. This is a modern story, a story of its time. A more and more common story where moral ambiguity is the only solid thing to hang on to. It’s a modern story because its theme’s are complex and circumstances changing and ambiguities more plentiful than simple solutions. It is an American story. This is a story about what is important. Should a family farmer hold on to the land entrusted to him, handed down through the generations, until they can no longer fend off a certain foreclosure? Or should they sell their birthright, or parts of it, to be mined and the product used in the fracking process. This is their choice? This is their choice. It is a modern true parable for our times and about our times. We meet characters along the way who give us their story or insight on what’s happend. Some bitter, some resigned, some enthusiastic but all with scars and all with a price that is being paid beyond dollars. The music is like the land they farm, open, intimate, like looking at a beautiful field in winter. Sometimes there is a fire nearby or the warmth of friends, and sometimes there is not, only the eyes that view a cold snow covered field. The music uses American roots music as its base, with the score mostly of National guitar (some refer to as dobro) and vocal. The piece becomes larger with the occasional support of an upright bass, a fiddle, pedal steel or a brass section. It’s beauty, minimalism, warmth and absolute unflinching realism are inseparable from the words it supports. The hardships of life do not discount it’s majesty nor beauty. This American music brings that all to the listener by making them also it’s viewer.
