简介
I wrote these songs mainly during my travels as a musician; from Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon, to a small fishing town in Alaska. There are ten songs on this album and half of those I co-wrote with my some of my closest and oldest friends; Ron Scott, Gregory Alan Isakov, Marc Brenton and new to this group, Robby Hect. I would say this record is a collection of different stories I've heard from strangers, songs about those that intrigued me, books that inspired me, or conversations that I couldn't leave behind. There is something about the adventure in running away that I always admired. The idea of leaving everything behind and starting off clean; not having to drag around some identity that someone else made up for you. I like the kids that skip stones, do penny magic tricks, dance, hop trains, and grow up to be boxers and bruised-eyed suit-wearing poets. That's where the name comes from. The album is dedicated to that kid that keeps showing up in my head. He keeps me going. When he's not there, I don't write.
