RICK FORD... some reviews. ‘One of those rare singer-songwriters who is wholly convincing in his ragged-edged country, folk and blues idiom.’ R2 Rock ‘n’ Reel **** ‘Rick records marvellous ballsy albums with catchy melodies, hooks and riffs galore. Great homegrown folk music as it should be.’ Americana UK ‘Authentic outlaw spirit…’ Maverick 'I share the moonlight with old Barney, and my story with the wind...' from Billy Boy For this third album I used a new producer and a new studios - way out in the wilderness up in the high moorlands where I live. My producer/session guitarist Simon Watkinson brought a very special flavour to the songs - I was after more space in the production and a spare approach to the acoustic sound and he brought that plus a very magical guitar alchemy. The songs arrived over a two year period - inspired by the land around me and the skies above me and the years that pass... always with my dog Barney by my side. For percussion we used everything from local council plastic recycling boxes and empty office water containers to triangle and cajon. The brilliant Rosie Rushton adds fiddle and gospel vocals from Val Williamson and Kelly Pointon add other-worldly qualities to some of the other tracks - notably the nine and a half minute story of my life - Voices of Yesterday. So that's all that's to add - the rest of the story is in the music and the songs. Just listen... it's all there.
