Songwriter and instrumentalist Trevor Hohenthaner composes music with an electronic backbone. As he says, “I like to call it ˜ballad electronica’ with a twist.” His themes and compositions reflect this young artist’s life events and experiences in a particularly personal manner. Trevor began writing poetry in the fifth grade. “The first lyrical song I wrote was called ˜Those Golden Days’, a poppy composition with an alternative rock feel. The lyrics spoke of my old hometown and how wonderful it was. I wrote a lot of things years ago when I would be at school, especially on the school’s performance stage when the curtains were closed. I would turn on the lights, sit on a chair behind the prop desk and write away.” Trevor’s musical experiences include composing with in-home studio software as well as playing several acoustic instruments, including piano and drums, to complement his electronic compositions. “I write in a style that varies based on the emotion I want to express. I lay down the basic bass and drums with an accompanying instrument, maybe throwing in an extra kick or two, but the real musical line is in the piano.” With two releases already behind him, he continues to challenge his personal musical boundaries. Both recordings have been edited with his father’s assistance in their furnace-vented/water-piped basement. “We both stay up late working on tracks. He gives me really good feedback on issues that otherwise leave me stumped.” Trevor continues to make music in his home in southeastern Michigan in the company of his father and two sisters, both aspiring musicians as well.
