简介
When I write a song I feel as though I'm rummaging around in an old box of keepsakes in an attic, pulling out reams of fabric and tossing it behind me to maybe use later. I guess the image represents my memories of a simple existence growing up in the Hawkesbury valley with a lazy river on one side and the Blue Mountains on the other when afternoons and weekends were often spent helping out on my grandparent’s antiquated farm. The memories feel rich with scent and texture; the clinking sounds of horses being shod or having harness buckled; the oiling of leathers; the mayhem of the packing shed and of peeling paint and inevitable decay. I’m attracted to music with strong connections to the working class of earlier times, particularly in Australia and rural America.
