简介

From its inception, the band members of BLAM! have shared the same passion to create unique music through their diverse musical abilities. Starting from the intense rhythms produced by Chilean drummer Leandro Mancini, to interesting voicings and solos of Italian pianist Maria Chiara Argirò, together with German upright bassist Leon Lissner's splash of swinging bass lines and finishing off with Maltese born Alex Bezzina's melodic and mellow style of trumpet playing. All these textures contribute to achieve BLAM!’s unique sound. The jazz quartet's dynamic became evident from their first gig during a gala dinner at a 5-star Hotel in West end London. From that point, the quartet have played in various renowned venues such as Charlie Wright's International, Ray's Jazz Café, St. James Church in Piccadilly, Jersey Jazz Festival, Europe House in the heart of Westminster and many others. The band have also toured in Rome and played in the famous ReD - Auditorium Parco della Musica, Faenas Café and Beba do Samba. Blam! have held a residency every 2nd Monday of the month for one year, at Positively 4th Street in London. These dazzling monthly performances led the group to come up with new original compositions for each gig. Ten tracks were eventually composed, which the band decided to preserve in a recorded album that resulted in this Blam! 1st Album. Every track reflects the strong influences from the band member’s different cultural roots. This was further enhanced by the contribution made by their guest guitarist from Hungary, Marton Fenyvesi. Marton’s contribution has lifted the album to another level by increasing the band’s energy momentum during the recording. The album offers an accelerating mix of unique sounds with an innovative energy in the compositional rhythms. The tracks encompass the band’s commitment to produce a simple formula of creativity, uniqueness and a colourful recording. The Album opens with a catchy melody "Take It", this is followed by "Flashback eines osterhasen", which incidentally draws from “Three to Get Ready” by Dave Brubeck. The third track, "Yes Way", offers a great drum solo together with minimal chords that keeps ringing in your ears! "Kind Of" is the only ballad in this album and is acclaimed for it’s complex harmony. This is followed by "Feb 16th", a soothing melody which develops to a 5/4 rhythm with complex solos. The compilation includes a groovy element that is presented in "Screw Loose". "Panta Rhei" offers an indefinable charm that is a familiar characteristic found in pentatonic melodies. Concluding with "Matisse" a mellow melody with a touch of drum 'n' bass and aggressive solos!! The album offers two bonus tracks, "Blamisity" a swing melody with unconventional solos and "Was war'n das". This track exhibits some inspiration in the band’s members style of playing from musical legends such as Miles Davis & Jimi Hendrix. The album was recorded at JVGs in Brixton, London on the 20th & 21st September 2011 and was engineered, mixed and mastered by Dave O’Higgins. The album portrays the band member’s approach to music and exhibits the group’s commitment to produce a truly remarkable experience; one that is most certain to deliver an interesting journey to all those who will enjoy this album.
