Nezrok’s Bumper Crop Announced: Bumper Crop is the first collection of new material from Chris Korzen in over 10 years. Korzen states “I had written very little in the last 10 years, but when it started to come out again, it poured. Since then, I’ve written much more than the eight songs on this sampler, but was constrained by the fact that there is never enough money to do it right, and trying to schedule musicians is a lot like trying to juggle cats.” Nezrok is a new project/band that is designed to incorporate a core group of musicians close to Korzen and his wife and musical partner, Diane E. Chris adds “a lot of the material was brought in half-baked and fleshed out in rehearsals. I tried to include everyone’s input and make it as fun as possible.” The project took over two years to complete. It is now out on New Jersey’s Jahal Records label. Yet, throughout his career, Korzen has maintained his integrity to the craft of pop/rock songwriting. The self-taught multi-instumentalist has explored various genres of music including pop/rock, lounge, jazz and classical, making each exploration his own. Press: “Is the band neo-classical or power-pop? The answer ... is both” - Bill Meredith, Jam Magazine “This guy knows his way around the studio” - Curtis Kay, WDHA (North Jersey) “Armed with a nice balance of technical ability and sugar-sweet melodies ... Korzen may not play up to the trendy, but he knows what he does well.” - Adrian Glover, Sun-Sentinel “unpretentious and affectionate” - Andy Glass, Musician's Exchange “Songwriters Chris Korzen and Chris Bolger amply prove their talents ... both the music's composition and performance are first-rate throughout.” - Robert Makin, East Coast Rocker “An ambitious and engaging record ... the album proves that BrassTacks (early band) has talent to spare” - Jay Lustig, Newark Star-Ledger “Chris Korzen -- a.k.a. Nezrok -- assisted by a handful of local musicians, runs through an agreeable set of original tunes seemingly inspired in equal parts by '70s AM radio and the ghosts of Beatles and Beach Boys past. Somewhere between lounge music and light, mainstream rock” - David Pullizzi, New Times “His instrument of choice is the grand piano, and it's both recorded and played at a high professional level. You hear it, and it immediately soothes.” - Theodore Defosse, Splendid (Sep 03, 2002) “The track that gets me everytime is "Nirvana". Sounds like The Beach Boys with a total real person vibe to it, it's really catchy.” - Jeremy, Waxidermy
