Reviews of the album: “This CD of the new generation of jazzmen from Russia claims to be unique. Having combined in their music Russian-Soviet cultural tradition with rock and jazz they announce proudly: Yes! We are what we are! They – or we or every adult citizen of our country- are mixed of such different stuff that the old good cocktail “Nothern Lights” is simply a lemonade compared to it. We were born to Prokofiev, grew to Gaiday and first time kissed to Ace of Base. All day long we listened to Coltrane and after all night jumped desperately to Prodigy. Remaining within cultural traditions we filled our music with drive, sincerity and feelings and were not ashamed of them like good boys with diplomas. We see a very wide genre range of ingenious topics of the project: funk, jazz, neo-romanticism and even Russian dance melodies. Love to the experiment has led to the subtle play with musical structure of the compositions, where the traditional solos artfully bound with the elements of the classical pieces. In short, it’s impossible to define the project style but if we try we get something like: jazz-funk-progressive-neoclassic-retrograss-rock. “Assembly Point” is a creative laboratory where modern musical trends are developed. At the same time the musicians do not put a task to make an experiment for the sake of experiment. The leader of the band says:”We play what makes the world better and our audience happier.
