I'm a full-time musician / composer/ producer of r&b, funk, smooth jazz from Cape Town, South Africa. I started out as an amateur musician from the age of twelve playing in church on Sundays - it's amazing how many musicians started out that way, but it definitely helped lay the foundation for things to come. After finishing school and compulsory military service I went pro, playing anything from parties, to weddings, clubs, restaurants, pubs, hotels, you-name-it-I-did-it (even the odd funeral -lol) to help pay the rent. But alas, South Africa was not an easy place to earn a living as a musician (not that the profession was an easy one to be begin with). After thirteen years of gigging and musical prostitution I decided I still hadn't found the kind of musical satisfaction I was looking for and finally turned to writing as a way of venting my frustration at an industry in my country that couldn't support me. I'd like to say that things got easier, but they didn't as many a musician who earns a living from his or her original music would tell you. So why did I continue with something that caused so much difficulty and hardship over so long a period of time? Easy - to record tracks like "May your love always be mine" and to keep turning them out!
