"Mike Lennon N.Y. City In The 80's" is Mike Lennon's fourth world wide release for PRP, and is a compilation of recordings with The Psychobillies and The Bumpkyns from 1987 -92. Mike began performing in Greenwich Village in 1985 and in 1986 formed The Bumpkyns with Benny Landa ld. guitar,John Cisco bass and Dug Rock drums.The band performed at The Bitter End and had a steady gig at O'Lunneys a Country Music City in midtown at 48st and 2nd Ave. The band recorded three tracks in September '87 with Baker Lee producing.In Dec.1987 Mike formed The Psychobillies from Planet Doc with Marc West bass Doc Hi Life ld.guitar and Danny Fernandez drums and bass. The Psychobillies [the "from The Planet Doc" bit was dropped with the departure of Doc in April 1989]with changes in personnel including Vinny Hancock drums, Gene Tambor ld.guitar and Danny Rybar bass played all over the New York metro area and made lots of recordings before disbanding in Jan.1992 "Its A Psycho World" and "Hey Little Psycho Girl" were recorded at the Mokus Manor in New York's Lower East side in August 1990 and were written for a never finished early reality documentary called "Its A Psycho World". "Bye Bye Bye Baby" and "Watchin The Clouds Go By" were recorded at the Sept.87 Bumpkyns sessions produced by Baker Lee. "Lets Go Dancin Tonite,Tell Me Now Psycho Love and Does He Luv Ya? are more recordings from the August '90 " It's A Psycho World" sessions. "Remember and Throw It Away are more recordings from 186 Norfolk Street . Too Many Psychos is from a July 1990 recording session made in Woodstock New York. The Tracks for "Mike Lennon N.Y. City In The 80's have been remastered from the original 8 and 4 track tapes by Russ Reiter in Phoenix Arizona March 2009. Special thanks to Don Wilke in Tempe Arizona for transfering to digital the original analog tapes.
