"Recipe for this album: - 1 part smooth R&B vocal timbre - 1/8 part jazz/blues piano - 1/2 part violin - 3 parts penchant for chord sequences and combined chords - 1 part ethereal and airy tone - 2 parts penchant for melisma and belting - 1 part Motown influenced soul - 1/16 part musical theatre training Best reserved for a quiet evening at home, this album serves varying levels of intimacy and smooth pop/soul that goes down well with servings of Alicia Keys or Eric Benet, with the occasional peppered hints of something more Christian Rock or Pop/Classically influenced at times..." Born and raised North of Toronto by 30 minutes, Kevin missed any sort of musical sophistication in his teenage years. Developing his early sound from a blend of bubblegum pop and '90s pop/r&b mixed with 14 years of classical training in violin and 5 years in piano, Kevin's sound was originally that of a weak Brian Mcknight imitator crossed with a would-be Backstreet Boy. Since his time at the University of Western Ontario, Kevin has procured his A.R.C.T. (Royal Conservatory of Music, Canada) in violin, immersed himself in theatre, and moved somewhat away from those original pop roots. The philosophy is that in "order to create interesting pop, one is generally influenced by something deeper, more musically intrinsic and sophisticated..." Not that it always necessarily shows, but more recent influences involve Sondheim, Brubeck, Donny Hathaway, Josh Rouse, Stevie Wonder, Sarah Mclachlan, Itzhak Perlman, and an attempt to branch out and identify some sort of personal essence in his music. He recently won the University of Western Ontario's version of the glorified Idol karaoke contests (but got a trip to Europe out of it!), and loves performing live. Kevin has now completed his law degree at the University of Windsor follwoing a B. Sc. at the University of Western Ontario. The album Every Day Is Beautifully Flawed is an all-original independent release focusing on his pop/soul writing.
