Marissa K is a vibrant, imaginative singer-songwriter based in Edmonton, AB, Canada. As a fan of escapism, Marissa strives to transport her listeners through her songs into a unique, colourful world. She focuses her songwriting on storytelling, as her inspiration comes from her background in performing in dance and theatre. Her music evokes the vitality and nostalgia of songwriters such as Vanessa Carlton and Sara Bareilles, but has a distinctive, theatrical writing style that is all her own.

Marissa K’s debut EP, Postcards, was recorded, engineered, and produced by Erin Yamabe, featuring local Edmonton musicians. Postcards includes six entirely original songs written by Marissa K. This EP is a culmination of Marissa’s evolution as a songwriter over the last six years of her career, each piece representing a different milestone in Marissa’s musical growth. The title track "Postcards" is a piece inspired by personal growth and a journey of letting go of the person you used to be. Written as "a break-up letter to yourself", "Postcards" evokes a positive attitude of turning over a new leaf and learning to love the person you have become. Marissa's goal as a songwriter is to give her audience the same experiences that she had listening to her favourite artists. She is a fan of nostalgia and letting music be cathartic for her listeners; she wants you to be able to forget about life for a little while and enjoy what is happening in the moment. It can be the soundtrack to your summer road trip, the "rainy day" playlist, or music that you'll find yourself coming back to again and again. Marissa imagines her music to be like laying in bed at the end of a long day: warm, comforting, and easy to sink into.
