Introducing ‘Mr. New York City’ Nick Diddy aka Talentino In the Big Apple there is a rising superstar who has built a reputation of entertaining crowds with his infectious energy. Nicolas Tolentino was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in the Bronx and Washington Heights. He got his start at an early age organizing high school parties. He went to school with members of Aventura at South Bronx High School. Toby Love and Nick performed in the same talent shows, too. “We had all the other high school crews shut down when it came to parties. We would make fliers out of regular paper,” Nick stated confidently. They started parties in neighborhood basements and formed Sucio Entertainment. He was always a leader and an organizer. When he went away to college at Old Westbury he began Gridlock Productionz. He learned many things from different people regarding moving a crowd and organizing events. “I began doing parties in college and they were always the hottest. Then on the weekends I’d come back home and throw parties in the city. I learned from ‘L Boogs’ (MTV 3) how to be a hype man and host. As I learned in college I was teaching my crew back here in the Bronx,” he recalls. While managing a nephew who was a deejay he met the legendary promoter Sal Abbatiello, owner of Fever Records. This came to be through the assistance of the well respected choreographer/event planner Jay Faith. His relationship with Sal proved to be monumental in that he was able to work in many different upscale clubs while learning from an experienced entertainment veteran. He became a sub promoter for Sal at the legendary Copacabana. The deejay he was working with and promoting, DJ Xclusive gave him the name Nick Diddy. “I appreciated that name; the reason he gave me that name was because I was doing a lot like P Diddy. I was running parties, organizing events, I was in the movie Ghetto Dawgs 2, music videos for Jay Z’s ‘Excuse Me Miss’ and Lil Kim’s ‘Jumpoff,’ a role in the Dave Chappelle Show and I’ve modeled clothes. I’ve modeled for many designers including Sean John and I met P Diddy. I attended the John Robert Powers acting school, too. I’m also in two new movies, Scrolls the Book of Life I & II & Brooklyn Nights. I became one of the city’s hottest hype men. I did my job so well I was getting booked like an artist to host parties and events. I hosted an Arcangel concert at the United Palace. I’ve brought out Zion, Notch and De la Ghetto at Club Avalon. He has hosted a TV show through El Circuito TV. He has interviewed Tego Calderon, Notch & Zion among others. “I decided to make the switch to being an artist. I named myself Talentino because I’m multi-talented. I love music and I feel I have the talent to display my skills not only locally, but worldwide. I have been back to the Dominican Republic to promote my music and the response has been excellent. I can rap in English and Spanish; write songs for males and females. I will release my album entitled “The Talent Show” this year. In addition, I have my own internet radio show on Urban Latino. I talk about the music industry, interview artists and I feature some of the hottest deejays in New York City spinning music. Also Nick has performed in many of the biggest clubs and even overseas. During the summer of 2007, he performed at the Olympic Stadium in the Dominican Republic, as well as, on the Venya Carolina Show among other places. He dazzles audiences with his energetic shows. He performed at a Peru Relief Fundraising concert in Connecticut, too. Here at home in New York City he’s given tremendous performances at Melodia’s, Umbrella, Da Zha Vu, Club Snitch, Jet Set Café, Eclipse & X Bar (now called Sofa Lounge) among many others. In March 2008, he gave a historic performance at the world renowned China Club to a packed club with a diverse audience. The China Club is known for famous & established artists that grace their stage. This relatively new & gifted artist seized an opportunity, promoted the event with a lot of passion and made history along the way. He was congratulated afterwards by the promotion company owner for a great show. Yo hablo de la indústria de música, entrevisto artistas y siempre tengo un deejay sobresaliente de Nueva York. Nick ha cantado en el Estadio Olímpico en la Republica Dominicana durante el verano del 2007. También cantó en el programa de Venya Carolina.
