简介

Preheat oven to 520. Add a pinch of Bill Munroe, a dash of Dylan, sprinkle in some Grateful Dead, pour in some Social Distortion, add some 110 octane and fistful of gunpowder, let come to a rapid boil over an open flame. Only serve with banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, bass, harmonica, and whatever pots, pans, buckets, hub caps you can beat on to make a racket, always on flat ground, better on a wood floor, between the times of 4:20 pm and 1:36 am, Tuesday through Saturday, never on Canadian holidays or in direct sunlight. Digest directly out of the frying pan and be sure to have plenty of room to move because you will need it. The Millers met one night in a Tijuana jail on separate charges that still pending in Mexican court of law and can't be discussed at this time. While doing hard time, the founding members of what would become The Millers, stuck up a kinship with each each other that can only be nurtured inside prison walls. Long days pounding rocks in the court yard left their minds to wonder and it didn't take no time for the four amigos to become bored with the mundane chore of swinging a sledge ten hours a day. Aggression and frustration began to fester in the four , causing them to fight with their jailed peers and prison authorities. After seeing the four rabble rousers get the best of fifteen member gang in the lunch room, a prisoner trustee named, Uncle Burn, who was doing twenty to life for removing tags off couch cushions, told the four young lads they should use their aggression and frustration and make good ole timey/bluegrass/americana/folk/acoustic music instead of fighting everyone. The incarcerated future ole timey/bluegrass stars began fashioning instruments with whatever they could find with in the confines of the Tijuana jail. Combining a tooth brush, spoon, pillow case, phillips screwdriver, two pistons from a four cylinder Ford Probe engine, a mustache comb, and three chicken bones from fried chicken Friday in the conessary and began making what is known today as Miller music. They became the musical favorites of everyone in the Mexican jail and even found favor with the corrupt warden, Micah Price, who saw promise in the four young lads combined musical efforts and looked the other way when they escaped from the jail one day when someone left the front gate unlocked to let the cable guy in. Now back in society, the Millers, ( Casey Tolliver, banjo, Cory White, guitar, J.K.Soard, mandolin and fiddle, and Jonathan New, bass) decided to leave their criminal identities behind and begin a new. They are musical mercenaries for the down trodden, outcasts, bearded, young, old, hippies, hipsters, smoking and non smoking. All things are possible and nothing is off the table when it comes to Miller Music. Hang around. You'll like what's next and chances are your grandma will too. This Side of the Sun is the latest installment of the Millers' musical forces combined. If you listen closely, you can hear the echo of the Tijuana jail doors slamming, always reminding them of where they came from and making noise for folk like them. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." -Emma Lazarus ( from The New Colosus)
