Singer / Songwriter Steve Franklin has lent his creative talents to a number of musical endeavors. Through seven years of professional touring and studio work, Steve has played from his heart for the people who come to listen. He strives to stay true to his artistic ideals even as he allows himself to explore new musical avenues. Originally a guitarist, Steve became interested in singing and songwriting in his late teens. Inspired by a James Taylor album that he found in his parents attic, Steve wasted no time getting in front of the microphone. Many of his first efforts are well remembered by those with the patience and kindness to nurture Steve's desire to perform. Although he has matured since his early efforts, Steve still approaches the songwriting process with the eyes and mind of a novice. While some musicians choose to grow into the esoteric, Steve believes very strongly in the notion that connecting with the audience is the key to great performance. With that in mind, Steve strives to engage each member of his audience through candid lyrics and heartfelt performances. Steve's act combines engaging acoustic guitar and melodically interesting vocal performances with a vast array of lyrical subject matter. From the profound to the profane, there are few situations in which Steve does not find a story to tell. Inspired by the quirks of 21st century living, Steve often explores the challenges and rewards inherent to everyday relationships from love affairs to lost sweaters to lay-offs. Steve has always felt a personal mission to resist the trend to slip into "Journal Speak" in his songs. As such, his body of work describes a myriad of situations from a myriad of perspectives. Audiences often find themselves laughing out loud and truly touched within the course of a single song. With his first solo album due to be released in the fall of 2005, Steve looks forward to a new chapter and continued growth in his musical career. The self titled "Steve Franklin" highlights Steve's talents on guitar and vocals against an eclectic background of sounds and instruments all of which come together to form an exciting and unique musical experience. Steve has recorded and toured with bands such as Entropy and Hurricane Jane. He was a co-founder of both bands, as well as one of the primary creative forces in each. When he is not on the road, Steve enjoys working with a number of musicians in his home state of Oklahoma both in the studio and in live settings. Steve's passion for creating music is the theme that runs through each of his musical engagements. He intends to continue working on variations of that theme today and every day to come.
