简介
After sitting in a dorm room many years ago listening to finger style guitar licks from Hot Tuna, I knew I wanted to play guitar for the rest of my life. From songbooks to chords and sore fingers, alone time was needed to become good at playing. Listening to endless guitarists, like Kottke, Fahey, Doc Watson, Norman Blake, and studying songwriting , the next step was performing live. I spent countless hours on the street as a singer learning to play in front of groups. Grand Central Station in NYC was a great learning point, playing for people all over the world that were just there waiting for a train. It was a built in audience. The police in Boston weren't as pleased with street singers back in the '70's. The idea of receiving a tip for playing music did not sit well with them and there was a lot of running in those days. With a Volkswagen camper that always broke down leaving me in strange towns, the side of the road was a perfect venue to learn how to play guitar and harmonica at the same time, turning a solo act into duo. I learned how to jam with both instruments. Then came the blues and the slide guitar and dobro. Country blues. What a great sound. This CD contains stories of that life. From band to solo tracks, every song has a different color and lesson to learn. It just needs your ears.
