简介
New York native D-Stroy (David Melendez) started his career on Tony Touch’s mix tapes. He later formed a group called The Arsonists. They went on to release their debut album which was New York Times “Album of the Week” on Capital/Matador Records. “More Than Beats and Rhymes” Mix CD is typical of D-Stroy’s musical and lyrical style. The frantic delivery on “Bravo” Ft. Grammy Award winner Miri Ben-Ari (Hip Hop Violinist), explosive energy on “Time is Now” Ft. Freestyle & Snowgoons and humor on “Esto Es Lo Que Eh” Ft. Q-Unique &Tony Touch melt through rap's icy demeanor. Cartoon themes in “1993”Ft. Pharoah Monche and sly humor of “Show must go on” Ft. Del The Funky are part of his arsenal, but then again, so are deeply-felt stances regarding artistry and skills on “Art of War” and “Scan The Field” both featuring Shabazz The Disciple (Wu-Affiliate). His standout vocal style, and loony, ribald wordplay over the production of Marco Polo, Hi-Tek, Psycho Les (Beatnuts) and more is admired by rap cliques from hardcore gangsters to players and pimps. This mix CD cleverly meshes D-Stroy’s singles (never released on CD), his cameo appearances, unreleased material and memorable joints with Big Daddy Kane, D.J. Premier, D.J. Eclipse and Crazy Legs (Rock Steady Crew). “More Than Beats and Rhymes” will be the soundtrack for when you want to go “Go Bonkers”. In today’s world it’s not enough to be merely a recording artist. D-Stroy has expanded his exposure. He has been asked to host events from all elements of hip hop and beyond. He’s toured with Kanye West, The Roots, Busta Rhymes, LLCoolJ and Kelly Clarkson (American Idol's tour, Nike, Sobé, Marc Ecko, Red Bulls BC One, Rock Steady Anniversary, and more). The multi-talented threat, D-Stroy has worn many hats. On the Anger Management Tour he was the M.C./Hypeman between the Ludacris, Papa Roach and Eminem sets. D-Stroy worked closely behind the scenes with MTV’s Icon and ESPN’s X-games award show with Aerosmith, Shakira, Pink, Jay-Z and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Grammy Award Winner, Miri Ben-Ari The Hip Hop Violinist (Universal Records) drafted D-Stroy as her M.C./Hypeman to Perform live on Tavis Smiley and B.E.T.’s 106 & Park. Miri and D-Stroy have performed halftime shows for most of the NBA’s and WNBA teams. NBA later hired D-Stroy to host All-Star Game’05 (Denver), '07 (Las Vegas),’08 (New Orleans) ’09 (Phoenix) and ’11 (Los Angeles).
