简介
This album is the third by French band Arran, but in a way it sounds like the first. A new era started in spring 2011 with the arrival of a new singer, Marion Condomines. She brought her jazzy feeling and her creativity, helping the band expand their scope with a lot of new songs, mostly originals. Among those new songs, A Thousand Miles and Strange Delight stand out. The first is an ode to Ireland, beloved country to the members of the band. The second is an invitation to the public to embrace the music and get along with the band. The album also offers some refreshing versions of traditional songs : Scottish ones like Charlie is my Darling and Willie Stewart, here called Willie & Peggy as it melts into another Burns song, Bonnie Peggy Allison, and Irish ones like the ballad Courting is a pleasure. In the end, A Thousand Miles may be hard to pigeonhole in a precise category, apart from the obvious acoustic mood. It sounds unique and sincere, as music should always be.
