Northeast Texas has produced some of Americas greatest artists and Michael ONeal is no exception. Spending his youth bouncing up and down the back roads of Lamar and Red River county, Micheal was taking in some of that rich heritage and finding his own treasures along the way. While peers were getting into the hit songs played over the radio, Michael was building a collection all his own including but not limited to Hank Jr., Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and long before Guy Clark had his fame and days in the sun, it was Micheal who realized the importance of the Texas native and dug deep into his catalogue before Guy was so well known. Later on would come Steve Earle, Townes Van Zandt, and John Prine, all of whom Micheal devoured daily. Not long after that backroad crash course in country music, Michael finally picked up a guitar and began learning how to play. Shortly after, a flood of original tunes ensued and with the help of some firm believers, a demo, then an album produced by Mike McClure that brings us to the present day. Michael is working on his 5th studio album to be released later in the year. With razor sharp wit, an incomparable attention to detail and a heart the size of the Red River, Michael is rising like his hero Guy Clark. Earning the respect from his neighboring artists and fellow peers from Canada, Ireland, and across the U.S. Michael ONeal is the real deal and he is passionate about making great art. You can hear it in his songs, see it in the way he raises his kids and how he doesn't flinch at truth.
