Silgado Sixto was born in 1939 in the village Flamenco municipality of Maria La Baja, Bolívar, Colombia. From childhood he learned the art of Gaita music from his father who inherited Roman Silgado of much of his unpublished repertoire and style of the neighboring lowlands of northern Montes de Maria, populated mostly by descendants of African slaves. The style is Paíto legacy of these traditions and is today one of the last exponents of the music of "black gait".

The Last exponent of the traditional "gaita negra". Paito is dynamic, full of surprises and secrets, and innovates opening the Gaita to other musical airs and formats (geners) from Vallenato to Rock n 'roll. He has had tours in France (2009), Brazil (2010) and Colombia (from 2003), Costa Rica (2014)
