Little Empires serves as a showcase for Chris' unique song writing style and explores several musical genres in electric and acoustic formats. ‘As both a musician and music fan, my tastes are varied. I wanted to capture some of that diversity on this recording. The challenge was to inject so many of my favourite styles of music into the compositions and still produce a cohesive collection of music.’ ‘This is the first time that all of the decisions in the creative process have been entirely up to me. It was not necessary to compromise my vision at any point. Interestingly enough, this tended to make me more open to suggestions regarding musical direction, arrangement…even artwork. The fact that I had the final say allowed me to be more objective and less protective of my vision, the end result being that the realisation of the album outweighs my original expectations.’ The album was written, arranged, and mostly tracked by Chris in his home studio, and produced by Rob Agostini at Soundbaker in Perth, Western Australia. The album was mastered by Alex De Grace at Suite Sound Labs in Vancouver, Canada. ‘I constantly immerse myself in music, be it via listening, learning, teaching, writing, recording or performing. My music career spans over two decades now and I am constantly amazed and delighted at how much more there is to experience. There is a joy in music for me that nothing else can match.’
