简介
I recorded this album back in 2007-08, actually right around the same time I won a place on the Fort Lauderdale team for the 2008 Brave New Voices slam poetry competition. This competition was actually the focus of the 2009 HBO documentary entitled "Russel Simmons Presents Brave New Voices". I completed the album in Fort Lauderdale in Spring 2008. The first track is about slam poetry and the impact it has had on my life. The second track is about awakening the world to our potential for a brighter future. The third track is the first full length slam poem I ever wrote. The fourth track is about the personal trajedies and national disasters I overcame in Middle School; including September 11th, my parents divorce, getting beat-up, and my mothers struggle with breast cancer. The fifth track is about the war in Iraq and our response to Hurricane Katrina. Both the fourth and fifth were performed to get onto the team for Brave New Voices. In fact, the fifth track was the first poem to be performed at the slam rounds for Brave New Voices and is my feature poem in the HBO documentary. The last track is a version of Music is I did junior year and is about my love of music and hiphop. If you love meaningful thought from a talented poet and lyricist then Spittin Fire From The Soul is for you. Please purchase this album to help raise money for my entertainment company STUDIO120. The mission of STUDIO120 is to utilize music change the world. If you believe in this mission and me as an artist, please support with a purchase.
