简介
Old becomes new and new becomes old. The satin evening gown I'm wearing on the cover was worn by my Aunt Muriel in the 1940s. It was her husband, Uncle Fred, who gave us children “old fashioned” 33 1/2 RPM records from the 30s and 40s, and who would have thought I would carry this music and this gown with me until now? Those albums and my mother's stories of dancing to Louis Armstrong’s big band during the war years inspired me to sing this music that I loved so. Now here I am with a music career, singing my favourites and creating songs of my own. Two of mine are on this album, and perhaps represent the “new becomes old” because they are originals that draw on the strong roots of jazz history. As for the vocals, I had so much fun creating these versions. When the emotion shimmers through I like to think that Billie Holiday might approve. Perfection is great music with the warts left in. It is for body, soul, and intellect, and I hope to spend the rest of my life deepening my appreciation for it. Won’t you join me? Here is a list of the songs and of the wonderful artists who made them with me: 1.
