Acoustic Philosophy Northeast Performer calls Acoustic Philosophy "....an effects free trip through the acoustic universe with all sounds lovingly and literally hand crafted by this three man team ...an all natural sounding record that finds a way to stay both easy and forwardly mobile and the same time." Music Connection, Los Angeles calls Acoustic Philosophy" ....... a trio whose organic sound goes down smooth and easy. Celia's vocal rasps acts as an appealing sauce for a CD that's suffused with warmth...." In 1997, Singer/Songwriter Phil Celia formed Dark Philosophy, the first incarnation of his "Philosophy" bands. Dark Philosophy's trademark sound centered around a cello and the two CD's released on Dark Moon Records (Silent Winter- 1998, The Edge- 1999) won critical praise among a number of national reviewers. In 2000, having completed work on his new Carriage Hill Studios in Hanover, NH, Phil met percussionist Steve Ferraris who infused Phil's new songs with Latin and African rhythms. Hence, Acoustic Philosophy was formed. Adding upright bassist Eric Richardson, they soon began recording their first 2002 release, Acoustic Philosophy. Their newest release, Acoustic Philosophy II recorded at Carriage Hill Studio's and release in September '06, captures the trio at it's best with a seven song selection including a great Van Morrison cover. Critics call Acoustic Philosophy "Folk Fusion" at its finest .... a unique trio of individual musicians that combine elements of folk, rock and jazz, infused with African and Latin rhythms.". On stage, Acoustic Philosophy utilizes their strong sense of song along with long improvisational jams that display a strong sense of dynamics.
