Noel Mendez began his career in music as a guitar player for Top 40 Cover Bands in the 80's. He formed his first recording band "HAYP" and co-wrote music for the band's album. He then later joined another recording band "Second Wind" and wrote two songs in their album. From there on, Noel embarked into full-time session work, doing live shows and recordings for top-notch local artists. Noel's guitar tracks has embellished songs from the likes of Francis M. to Martin Nievera and Gary V., Regine Velasquez and even bands like SIDE A. At the moment, he still is an active session guitarist for local and foreign artists. He is a resident guitarist in GMA 7's sunday show Party Pilipinas. From writing pop rock songs for HAYP and Second Wind, he has matured. Writing songs with more serious messages as his present album, aptly called "HALAGA" exhibits. 1.'Chubibo'(a type of -talks about a man who's always hungry for adventure and the woman who patiently waits for his return. 2.'Halaga'(trans.Value)- is the essence of parenthood. 3.'Salamat Inay'(trans. Thank you, mother)- is a lullaby expressing appreciation and gratitude for the mother. 4.'Live'- expresses a personal belief and positive outlook in life. 5.'Pat on my back'- instrumental inspired by jazz great, guitarist Pat Metheny. 6.'Pag-iisang Dibdib'- A Song of Vows. 7.'Op Smile Song'- A Song of Thanks inspired by Operation Smile. 8.'God is a surfer'- a word-playful expression of the songwriter's love for surfing. Island feel pun with light irreverence. Watch out for some impeccable guitar work in the extro. 9.'Honor thy Father'- Borrowed the title from the Commandment. This is a very personal song. .A rebel son's message of love to his father. 10.'Little Angels'- talks about streetchildren and the people who dedicate their lives to helping them. 11.'Taking on Matters'. -Instrumental 12.'Wag Kalimutan'- is a school reunion song with heart, and tons of rock guitar works.
