El Camino Real is a group of musicians from Nacogdoches, Texas who gather weekly to play traditional acoustic music. The tunes and songs they favor are drawn from a variety of sources including, but not limited to Old Time, Irish, Scottish, Country Rags and old Texas waltzes and breakdowns.

In this recording, Charlie Jones plays fiddle, mandolin and clawhammer banjo, Jon Hall plays guitar, mandolin and sings, Craig Smith sings, plays guitar, mandolin and banjo uke, Mark McLain plays bass, and Robbie Lacomb-Roach and Chris Barker are the percussionists. The group are regulars at Steve Hartz's OLD TIME MERCANTILE AND STRING SHOP Saturday sessions and have been playing over thirty years.

NACOGDOCHES SESSIONS was recorded with the idea of re-creating as closely as possible the ambiance of a live session with all the musicians gathered in a room around a single microphone. The material is presented with no editing or over-dubbing.
